• The Ceramic Centre Bikaner was renamed as Ceramic Electrical Research and Development Centre (CERDC), Bikaner during 2010.

• Historically, the CERDC, Bikaner is IVth (in public sector) after Kolkata (WB), Morbi (Gujarat) and Khurja (UP) at national level. The scope of this Centre is to facilitate the entrepreneurs of North India.

• During this period, CERDC was engaged mainly in testing of insulators along with beneficiation and characterization of minerals which were of interest of growing ceramic industries.

• At initial stage, most of the work was directed towards identifying suitable mineral resources along with their suitability for specific product development within Rajasthan and its nearby areas. The quality control in respect of ceramic is given due attention  with development of ceramic products on introduction of different minerals such as Clay, Gypsum for their suitability in specific uses.
